Moving right along..

Didn't comment on the election yet. Was hoping the Red Wave thing would happen, even knowing it might be blunted by the leftist machine. Didn't reckon on how much though. My friend Enak assesses it fairly accurately, as always. Actually it's just common sense. I won't go into the details, just make an observation or two.

One is, it's likely to get worse. With nothing (it's likely not even the House will fall to Republicans) to stop them, or even make them mildly trepid. Thinking (the masses anyway, who do the mule work) as their masters have conditioned them, they see victory in the near future. The wise see very bad things, and being wise do not yet know what those bad things will be.

Many of even the most informed of us on "the right" as we are called, are unaware of the developments in the remainder of the world. Their world is this country, and it is relatively insignificant in any case, and becomes more so as its alliance (USA and most of western Europe, with Asian allies such as Korea and Japan both of little use in a fight (economic or military), and likely to abandon that alliance if survival seems to be at risk) is being weakened by the destruction of leftist policies and continued foreign meddling depletes their resources.

So the need to do what needs to be done, assuming it can be done, they do now know. Since in the near future the USA is likely to be just one of numerous states which are either connected in varying degrees to the new pole ( BRICS+) or the finally dying empire that never ended, which whether it results in them being attached to a new pole or something else. What that something else may not be our choice, but it could be.

If the USA is somehow, in a relatively short time, transformed from its current state (approaching a destruction from which rebuilding may not be possible) to something close to the founders' plan, it could survive and thrive in the possible chaos of the non-aligned world. That is probably not feasible now, as the socio-political situation is such that there is no way to prevent the descent into authoritarianism (we're close now) and the inevitable totalitarian (think Stalinist Russia) regime. The situation depicted in the forthcoming "Balance of Power" may be the best we can manage at first, which I say because it offers a possible path to restoration of the Republic, even after it has been severely broken.

Text of the Enak Nomolos pic:

Know, 0 prince, that between the years after the USSR fell, and the years of the rise of chaos, there was a global world undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars 'Washington, Moscow, Beijing, London and Brussels' connected by a spider-web of container ships, floating cruise palaces, nonstop air transportation, fiber optic cables. But the proudest civilization of the world was Christendom, reigning supreme in the dreaming west. Hither rose a class of sullen-men, with the power of that great civilization in hand, with gigantic pathologies and gigantic visions, determined to replace the Western foundational principle "under God", or at least "under reason" with "under us".

------>

Following is the inspiration. I don't remember if REH (Conan) wrote it or it was added by a later editor. Know, 0 prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars - Nemedia, Ophir, Brythunia, Hyperborea, Zamora with its dark-haired women and towers of spider-haunted mystery, Zingara with its chivalry, Koth that bordered on the pastoral lands of Shem, Stygia with its shadow-guarded tombs, Hyrkania whose riders wore steel and silk and gold. But the proudest kingdom of the world was Aquilonia, reigning supreme in the dreaming west.

------>

Hither came Conan the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

------>

"Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded 'here and there, now and then' are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck." -- Robert Heinlein
