Valentine's day or something

Not much on holidays, manage to avoid the 25 December gatherings with a promise to show up for New Years. Girlfriend is about like me, we have each other all the days for us 14 February signifies that the shortest month will soon be half over, presumably around midnight. Unless I presume incorrectly.

The plethora of stories about the Chi-Com balloon(s?), or the surfeit of "news" items makes discussion fruitless. Assume that every statement from the regime is false, unless it is a slip (like the promise from Joetato - obviously a slip - that the Nordstream 1 would be attacked and the gloating by a regime official after it happened - probably intentional but stupid) or a deliberately factual statement because for once they decide not to lie when the truth will serve them better. Of course the truth almost never serves them, so.... at what point are there more stories about flying objects, identified or not, shot down or not, from China or outer space, or wherever? Depands.

Of course, why not a fake alien invasion? Or maybe just alien contact. Super-secret stuff, manufacture incidents and just make up "news" out of whole cloth. Could keep that going if they do it right. Or not even all that competently. Obviously, as some infamous person said, what difference does it make?

Chernohio is trending on Twitter.

A 25-year-old Belgian soccer player dropped dead on the field, dying suddenly just as he saved a penalty kick.

This is unlikely to be reversed significantly even without more planned emergencies. Along with the ongoing migration, the movement to free states will likely continue to increase. The next census is almost ten years away, and congressional seat reallocation after that. Good or bad? If the Republic survives in salvagable form until then, good. If not it won't matter much.

Just listened to an interview with Arkansas governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders on the Clay and Buck show. Arkansas doesn't get much attention. Barely ahead of Mississippi (just over 3 million to Mississippi just under) it does little to attract attention. Its problems are less due to more favorable demographics than its neighbor to the east. The completely Republican congressional delegation (both senators and all four representatives) can be misleading. One senator is milquetoast at best and probably an actual RINO, and the state legislature has plenty of RINOs. Fortunately they are also opportunists and will go whichever way the wind blows. Governor Sanders is in the DeSantis mold (and lived in Florida for a time) and is solidly in his camp. Given the fecklessness of Arkansas politicians she should be able to corral them. She has already issued a number of executive orders canceling some bad policies, mostly by the former RINO governor. Overall things look good, with Florida on the east coast (and South Carolina solidly red, probably receiving reinforcements in the form of refugees from its northern neighbor) and Texas to the west with Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri relatively safe. The fact that Alabama and Georgia have a severe demographic taint is surmountable and it seems that they will succeed.

Text in the pics:

As he was about to be executed Jacques de Molay cursed King Philip IV of France and Pope Clement V, warning the Pope that, within a year and a day, he and Philip IV would be obliged to answer for their crimes in God's presence.

Philip and Clement V both died within a year of Molay's execution; Clement succumbed to a long illness on 20 April 1314, and Philip died due to a stroke while hunting.

Coincidence: You weren't paying attention to the other half of what was going on.
